SHEQ Manager & Directors
Provide advice, support, training, monitoring of sites / offices to ensure compliance with our Health & Safety policies and to provide feedback on any accidents that occur
Promote continual improvement and quality across all areas of the business to meet required ISO standards and compliance.
To have read, understood and comply with the company policies and procedures at all times.
Create a positive and open attitude to health and safety within the organisation, encouraging the reporting of near misses and working to improve accident prevention across the business.
Examine and investigate accidents that occur onsite and liaise with Site Managers in accordance with RIDDOR Regulations.
Identify the roles and responsibilities of Watson Homes in respect of the CDM Regulations for each project and agree a course of action with the Contracts Manager and Site Manager to satisfy these requirements.
Support onsite construction teams to ensure that inspections are being completed and compliance achieved.
Undertake proactive health, safety and quality audits of our sites on at least a monthly basis, to ensure sites are being managed in compliance with relevant health and safety requirements and that where possible best practice is being followed.
Ensure RAMS are received in a timely manner for operations to commence on site.
Undertake review of RAMS documents approved by Site Teams for high risk works on WHDMS and audit RAMS during the inspection process to ensure compliance.
Prepare RAMS for activities carried out by Watson Homes direct labour or sub-contractors working under our direction.
Implement quality procedures and processes to support the Company’s ISO certification’s.
Complete internal audits of departments and report findings to heads of department for action and resolution
Ensure our Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Standards are followed and that employees are aware of and understand our policies and standards relating to their roles.
Liaise with HSE, Local Authorities, Fire Authorities and any other safety / trade organisation as required.
Attend site meetings whenever required to discuss SHEQ matters or areas of concern raised by Site Management Team.
Monitor contractors on undertaking safe systems of work to comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations while working on various Watson Home Sites.
Provide support and training to Watson Homes employees around ISO and company standards.
Prepare audit reports and action sheets following audits undertaken and ensure actions are closed out within agreed time frames.
Prepare construction health and safety files prior to sites commencing and liaise with principal designers to obtain formal approval.
Maintain construction phase plans, COSHH documents, toolbox talks and any other health and safety documents providing up to date documents to sites where required.
Undertake health and safety reviews of new sub-contractors as part of PQQ submissions prior to sub-contracts being awarded.
Skills knowledge and aptitude
Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
Experience of health and safety within the construction environment
Strong organisational and time management skills
Qualifications & Training
Formal H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH
Qualifications & Training
ISO Lead Auditor
Environmental qualitfication (IEMA, IOSH etc)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating in a similar role in residential construction
It is important to form strong working relationships with both internal and external people. The focus in this role is:
Internal: Directly employed site staff, Contracts Manager, Procurement & Commercial staff, Directors
External: Sub-Contractors, suppliers, NHBC (or similar) representatives, customers and members of the public
