Main Objectives

To ensure that projects and programmed and delivered on time and within budget parameters

To ensure that materials are scheduled to achieve deliveries in accordance with the programmes of works.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain Contract and Target programmes for each development incorporating relevant design programmes as well as construction, based upon project timescales set by the Commercial and Development teams

Liaise with Contracts Managers to finalise the Target Programmes and to produce stage / section programmes as required

Modify and update Target Programmes to mitigate against delays

Work with the Site Teams to train and support them in preparing and maintaining short term programmes

Undertake regular site visits to review progress against programme and adjust programmes as necessary.

Work with the Commercial and Finance teams to ensure that programmes provide sufficient detail for forecasting purposes

Report to Senior Management on development progress against current and initial planned programmes

Prepare and monitor trade specific programmes for each sub-contractor on the development and provide update programmes to them throughout the development. Liaise with the Site Teams and Sub-Contractors to assist with project achievement and work with them to mitigate delays

Support Commercial Teams with the preparation of Extension of Time claims and demonstrate reasons for delays

Skills knowledge and aptitude

  • Knowledge of construction build sequence and trades

  • Excellent data entry, numeracy skills and attention to detail

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to travel to development locations

Qualifications & Training
- Essential

  • Highly proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Excellent data entry and numeracy skills and attention to detail

Qualifications & Training
- Desirable

  • HNC level 4 in Construction based qualification

  • ASTA or equivalent project management software


  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience within a Planner role

Working relationships

It is important to form strong working relationships with both internal and external people. The focus in this role is:

Internal: Directly employed site staff, Contracts Manager, Procurement & Commercial staff, Directors


External: Sub-Contractors, suppliers, NHBC (or similar) representatives, customers and members of the public
